This high-altitude trek traverses high passes and glaciers and beautiful peaks and pastures from the enchanting Spiti valley in Himachal to the picturesque Tsomoriri Lake in Ladakh. Trudging through sequestered villages and un-trudged regions are the highlight of this trek. Challenges are appropriately rewarded by breathtaking panoramic views all around.
We start our walk from Kibber, descending into the rocky Parilungbi gorge before crossing steep scree and moraine before ascending the Parang La (5592M), to reach the western edge of the Tibet’s Changthang Plateau in Ladakh. The trail now follows a broad valley fringed by peaks to the confluence of Para Chu and Phirtse Phu rivers before culminating at the 27km-long Azure Tsomoriri Lake, a breeding ground for bar-headed geese, black-necked cranes and Brahmini ducks. This is the land of Changpas, the nomadic yak and pashmina goat herders native to this region. Next, we explore the beautiful Korzokh Village and Gompa before making our way back to Leh passing through the spectacular Changthang landscape.
